Nothing to Watch? Netflix Adds Story-Like Previews on iOS

Heads up, Netflix users: The streaming service only introduced a new feature that lets you view thirty-second previews of shows and movies while browsing for something to scout on your mobile device.

Mobile previews launch today on iOS and are expected to arrive on Android in the near hereafter. Don't worry most having to turn your phone to view these previews—Netflix volition display them in a vertical format to brand things like shooting fish in a barrel. Previews are displayed like an Instagram Story; if something piques your interest, just tap play or add it to your list. If y'all're non into information technology, swipe or tap the screen to view the adjacent one.

Right now, the iOS app is offering dozens of previews, from Netflix Originals similar Lost in Space and Chewing Glue to comedy specials and former favorites like Friends, Breaking Bad, and Scandal.

"Mobile previews present members with a fun, simple, and easy fashion to learn about all the new content on Netflix—and find something smashing to watch even faster," Netflix Manager of Product Innovation Cameron Johnson wrote in a blog post. He added that they "load very quickly" and are "personalized to your specific tastes" so it shouldn't take too long to find something you lot want to picket.

The launch of this feature on mobile comes after Netflix last year added video previews to the TV browsing feel.

"Years of testing has made it clear that video previews assist our members browse less and discover new content more quickly," Johnson wrote. "With the launch of mobile previews, we are bringing a video browse experience to your mobile phone in a fun and mobile-optimized way."

In other streaming news, Comcast last week announced plans to get-go offering Xfinity packages that include a Netflix subscription.
